Salt-Water Sandals Fit Guide

What size of Salt-Water Sandals you should buy is not as easy as ordering your regular size, for that the brand apologises. There is good reason though. The Original Salt-Water sandal was designed in the 1940's and they are still made using the same old shoe lasts (moulds) with their own unique sizing system.

We understand that while this little quirk adds to their charm, it also makes it tricky to work out what size to order. You can find size guides at the bottom of this page and below we outline some tips on how to ensure your sandals have the ultimate in snugness of fit.

STEP 1

It's good to know that the sandal is supposed to fit close at the heel, in other words, your foot is meant to be sitting close to the back end of the sole. At the front, there is a line of stitching and we advise that your toes are just on or just behind the line, not creeping over it.

STEP 2

It's also good to know that Salt-Water sandals can take a bit of stretching. If at first, they feel tight across your foot then get a hold of them and gently pull the leather straps in opposite directions. This will help to loosen them up and with wear, they will mould to your feet.

The brand even recommend that if you get a sore spot, run the tap over your sandals and wear them until they dry. They promise you - the leather will soften right up.

STEP 3

We acknowledge the slight confusion with sizing for this brand which makes it tricky to order online. To make it easy Flip Flop Shop have converted Salt Water (SW) sizing to the actual size of your foot. So you just need to order your actual shoe size and we'll make sure you get delivered the right Salt Water size to fit you. Generally UK sizes are -1 the SW size. This should be noted when you receive your sandals as the box will state the SW size, not the UK size you have ordered through us. Remember if you're worried, always try your sandals on before querying your delivery.
